A cursory Google search of the terms yields hundreds of websites, most of them having one of the words in their URL, that offer the currency of RuneScape as a substitute for OSRS Gold real money. The news came out on the 13th of October, that Jagex has put an end in "real-world trading". In a post on their blog "The RuneScape Team" clarified that "gold that is purchased via RWT real world trading is an issue in any online game with a tradeable currency."
Jagex promises to send "messages to players who we've identified as being involved with"RWT" within "the next few hours". "For anyone who has been involved, we'd like to be clear - this is the one message, and the only one," Jagex added.
Also announced was the news that the game's PvP modes, Duel Arena, would have sweeping changes that would include the tighter enforcement of rules of the game for the purpose of encouraging more positive gameplay. Jagex states that Duel Arena "has been a catalyst to this kind of toxic behavior".
Prior to that the publisher's "short-term measures" will be in place "until our teams of developers are able to bring a major update to fully replaces Duel Arena next year."
