In Madden 21, plenty of players want to dominate franchise, MUT, and The Yard. So whether you're great at reading the field or are still getting to know your playbook, mastering the passing in Madden 21 is as essential as ever.

Passing is a huge part of Madden. There is no quicker way of getting the ball down the field. There are several passes in this game and if you want to master this game truly, you would need to learn the mechanics of every one of these passes. Here's how to execute all passes and, more importantly, when to use them.

Touch Passes

In order to do a touch pass, you need to pick a player and select whoever you want to pass it to. Press R1 on PS and once you give it, press R2 and hold it there and your touch pass will be executed. In the case of Xbox, the controls would be RT and RL. So just press the receiver button two times and you would be able to perform a touch pass.

They come out a bit slower than bullet passes but arc a little higher and are difficult for anyone not in the quarterback's face to deflect them prior to the flight. Touch passes are relatively easy to catch for both the offense and defense, but they tend to be the most accurate type of pass. If you're not throwing into a crowd, touch passes are usually the best option.

Bullet Passes

This is like a High pass but faster. In order to throw a bullet pass, you will have to press and hold the receiver button. It is called a bullet pass because of its speed. The other team can catch it because of its height being approximately equal to the chest.

When using this pass, you would need to make sure that the event coverage is not very wide. An example of a situation where the bullet pass would be beneficial is when the receiver is running down the line of scrimmage and is within a range of a number of yards and no one is among you and you have a clear shot at the receiver.

Lob Passes

Lob Passes are long, high-arcing throws executed by quickly tapping the receiver button L stick and R2 or RT for either platform once. They come out a bit faster than touch passes but slower than bullet passes. However, due to their high arc, they are impossible to deflect until reaching the receiver.

Lob passes have the longest flight time and give both receivers and defenders plenty of time to get there. Lob passes are mainly used for any deep throw, but they're easy to defend against; you'll want to use them either for last-second desperation throws or when you have a streaking receiver wide open.

Low Pass

For a low pass, press L2 on PS or LT on Xbox, and after that tap the receiver button, this is a really simple pass and if accurately thrown, it can be very helpful in certain situations.

Low passes are best thrown when they need to be caught in traffic in the middle of the field or you absolutely need to make the reception and don't care about yards after the catch, such as converting on a 3rd down when the receiver is already beyond the line to gain. Low passes tend to be underthrown if the receiver is running away from the quarterback. If you want to pull it off perfectly, you will need to be parallel to the scrimmage line.

High Passes

For a High Pass, all you have to do is hold LB or L1 for PS and Xbox, respectively and throw it to the receiver.

They have a slightly lower arc than a lob pass but will fly about as fast as a touch pass. This allows a receiver to make a catch with far less chance of interception against a defender who is shorter or lacks jumping ability. However, the receiver is at risk of being tackled immediately even if they catch it, and poor quarterbacks may entirely overthrow the receiver. High passes are best used when the receiver only has to beat one defender.

Now that you know all these passes, you need to practice to perfect them. Only use the pass intended for that situation, don’t keep using the same pass again and again because that’s just a recipe for failure. Using the correct pass each time will secure your victory.
