Open a Savings Account online by following these simple steps

The entire world works and does other tasks digitally today. There is nothing you cannot do online. Right from online shopping to investments all happen on the online platforms. Banks provide Online Banking services through which you send and receive money in your account within seconds.
The banking sector has moved forward and allows customers to open their Savings Account online. Follow these steps for it:
Research about different banks
The online facility to open an account is relatively new. Not all banks offer this facility. So, before opening one online, you need to research the banks offering such facilities. An online search can help you find banks that let you open an account online. You can do so on private sector banks and a few public sector bank portals.
Decide the account type
Once you shortlist the bank where you want to open the account, you need to visit their website and choose the one you want to open. Most banks let you open different Savings Accounts, like Joint, Minor, Senior Citizens, Women, and accounts under various government schemes. Decide upon the account and then move to the next step. Note that you cannot open Current Accounts online.
Fill out the application form
After selecting the Bank Account, fill out the opening form. You need to add details here, including your name, address, contact details, PAN Card, and the account you intend to open. You need to attach your passport-size photograph to the photo section and upload soft copies of all the documents. These include your ID and address proof.
As per the Government mandate, you need to submit the PAN card details mandatorily. Also, remember to opt for Online Banking facilities while filing the form. Review the form and submit it.
Banks evaluation
After submitting the form, the bank assesses your application. This process can take anywhere between seven to 14 days. If your account opening request gets accepted, the bank communicates the same through the e-mail address provided in the account opening form. They also ask you to complete the e-KYC process
Complete the e-KYC process
You need to complete the e-KYC formality wherein you provide a photocopy of your ID, address, and PAN card. When your e-KYC details are submitted, the bank offers the Saving Bank Account details. You get the login ID and password to Internet Banking, through which you can access your account and conduct various online transactions. The bank also sends an opening kit featuring your chequebook, passbook, and ATM or Debit Card.
Online Savings Accounts are ideal for modern-day, tech-savvy bank customers. If you find Internet Banking and Banking apps convenient and comfortable, there is no reason why you should visit the bank to open your account traditionally.
