The Andhra Pradesh State Legislature passed an act and established the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences. The university is also a specialty hospital located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi conceived the institution and was officially established in 1993. The institution offers postgraduate, M.B.B.S, PG Diploma, and doctoral courses as well. There are courses that come under Allied Health and Paramedical Sciences as well.
In 1995, the institution came under the State Legislature Act, and prior to that, the hospital was functioning from 1993 itself. Along with many postgraduate courses, there are specializations in subjects like medicine, surgery to name a few. A majority of the seats in SVIMS are filled through the NEET examination. The institution has excelled in many fields, including academics, health care services, and research.
