The down conductors and the earthing network provide this large current a Low Impedance Path to soon dissipate this vast current in a fraction of a second into the ground.
In this manner, Lightning gets directed into the ground before having a chance to damage structures, claim human lives, or burn our appliances.
The Surge Protection Device Protects our appliances from the transient voltage Lightning induces in nearby electrical networks.
The Lightning Protection System ideally covers the Structure and the connected services in an earthed and conducting metallic shield/box. It also bonds the connected services at the entrance point into the shield.
