How to prevent corrosion or rust on ASTM F1554 bolts?

ASTM F1554 bolts are high strength carbon steel anchor bolts, commonly used in structural and civil engineering. Because they are mostly plain or low alloy steel, they’re susceptible to corrosion and rust, especially in outdoor or humid environments.

F1554 bolts come in Grades 36, 55, and 105. For highly corrosive environments, consider below coatings:

Hot-Dip Galvanizing:
Provides a thick, durable zinc layer.
Protects the steel even if coating is scratched (sacrificial protection).
Ideal for outdoor or marine environments.

Electroplated Zinc or Zinc-Nickel:
Thinner coating than hot-dip; suitable for mild environments.

Epoxy Coatings:
Can be applied for additional corrosion resistance, especially in acidic or industrial environments.

Paints or Powder Coatings:
Effective if combined with proper surface preparation.
