If you've enjoyed the pleasure of reading comments like this, then you may be familiar with Elden Ring, developer FromSoftware's most recent game that released at the end of February to glowing reviews.
I'm still relatively new to their games, but I'm all already familiar with their philosophy of difficulty, coupled with satisfaction when a particular boss is eventually defeated. With a wide range of titles, this is the FromSoftware favorite that has won an enormous number of followers over the years. This is basically their 'thing'.
Personally, I was hooked by the hype before release and finally decided that the stunning open world, the stunning visuals of the characters and other features. were enough for me decide to take the plunge.
Here's the thing though. I'm a bit older today. I'm working, kids, a dog that sometimes needs to be walked... generally, I have obligations. What I don't have amount of time for is.
I have time to dedicate to beating the foe whom I pursue, and then watch my health points fall to nothing after a hefty whack of a sword comparable to an average five-door saloon. Then I'm sent back to a tiny glow-y flame point, with no accrued runes.
Now, I absolutely, whole heartedly, 100% don't want to suggest a beloved game mechanic from an author should be replaced by some less diluted 'one size fits everyone' model that does not allow for the abilities of most gamers.
