Jagex has teamed up with the creator of RuneScape Gold the well-known Old School RuneScape mod RuneLite HD to provide the HD version available for all players. Steamforged's forthcoming board game will offer the fans of RuneScape a second possibility to get into life in Gielinor and create their own adventure.
Runescape developer Jagex's publishing division has picked up an exciting Indie release under its Jagex Partners label, making Melvor Idle an independent game now. It's an idler game that's similar to games like Clicker Heroes or Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, made its debut on Steam earlier this year. It also wears its inspirations from Jagex's most popular game Runescape with pride.
Melvor Idle is a detailed multi-track idler that will attempt to recreate "the most fundamental components of the RuneScape franchise in a manner so that they can be enjoyed casually," says the publisher. It's a fairly rich in features, an idle game with a variety of things to craft and improve, as well in a zero games that have prestige mechanics that need a restart.
Jagex apparently became aware of the game in the early part of 2020. A large percentage of the publisher's staff were a fan of the project after its officially Steam launch in the month of October the year. As you'd expect that the game's creator is pleased to be working with the designers for one of their favourite games. "Being working with Jagex to directly work on this has been a dream come true," said Brendan Malcolm who is the sole creator responsible for Melvor Idle studio Games by Malcs.
Malcolm posted a long Q&A for players on Reddit community, stressing that he would maintain complete creative control going forward, while also reiterating that the game's single-purchase model of monetization will not change. Jagex claimed that they did not have "no intention" to change anything in Melvor Idle. The publishing agreement will see Jagex handle the marketing, localisation, tech support, and QA for Melvor Idle.
