It was founded in 1962 to service the then-Punjab state. On July 8, 1963, it was opened by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, India’s PM. A Parliament Act established Haryana Agricultural University in February 1970. HP Krishi Vishvavidalya was founded on the Palampur campus in July 1970. Also The College of Veterinary Sciences in Ludhiana was renamed Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University in 2006.Moreover Land grant institutions in the USA were used as a model. Has been instrumental in raising food manufacture in Punjab and ushering in India’s Green Revolution era. Has contributed significantly to the state’s cattle and poultry output. In 1995, it was renown India’s Best Agricultural University.
