Up next in this exercise is the NFC East. Dallas CowboysTy Dane Gonzalez: WR Cedrick WilsonOvershadowed by the likes of Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, Wilson has quietly been a relatively productive pa s catcher down in Dallas. The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder has primarily lined up in the slot, boasting solid route running prowe s, sure-handedne s, impre sive physicality and decent after-the-catch ability. With several injuries in the Cowboys' receiving corps this past season, he was able to put all these tools on full display as he recorded career-highs acro s the board, tallying 45 catches on 61 targets for 602 yards and six touchdowns. Furthermore, over the past two seasons, Wilson developed into a bit of a trick-play artist for Dallas, completing all five of his pa s attempts for 111 yards and a score. As Gallup also gets set to hit unrestricted free agency and trade rumors swirl around Cooper, a permanently expanded Marwin Gonzalez Jersey role could be in the cards for Wilson if he stays with the Cowboys. But if not, there's a lot to like here from the Seahawks' perspective.Colby Patnode: G Connor WilliamsOn the surface, adding another guard makes a lot of sense. Gabe Jackson was solid in his first year in Seattle, but it appears that Damien Lewis may not have progre sed as well as the team would like. Williams is coming off a Pro Bowl caliber season, earning a 76.1 overall grade from in 2021, allowing just 1.0 sack in 948 snaps. Williams is a smaller guard than what Seattle has typically preferred in recent years, but that appears to be the direction it intends to go after promoting zone-blocking master Andy Dickerson to offensive line coach. Williams is going to be pricey, likely earning between anywhere between $12 million and $15 million APY. But paying a little extra to secure a stalwart offensive lineman is worth the money. New York GiantsGonzalez: EDGE Lorenzo CarterCarter is one of my favorite dark horse free agent targets for the Seahawks as a 3-4 outside linebacker. He was relatively quiet for most of the 2021 season, but really came on strong over the last four weeksstarting with a dominant performance against the Cowboys in which he recorded seven pre sures, 2.0 sacks, a forced fumble and his first career interception. In all, he put up a personal best 5.0 sacks on 31 pre sures, showing good burst off the edge, the ability to efficiently fill pa sing lanes and better run defense than his 56.9 grade from would indicate. His career thus far won't warrant a hefty price tag, but he's a solid upside play for a Seattle team needing more options to run its new defensive scheme.Patnode: TE Evan EngramSomebody please save Engram from the Giants. Hes got blazing speed and would probably be the best athlete Ru sell Wilson has ever had at the tight end position. He does a lot of the things Gerald Everett can and po se ses even more upside than Everett. Engram doesnt have the best hands and drops have been an i sue in the past. But with Will Di sly and Everett Josh Reddick Jersey both heading towards free agency, the former Mi si sippi standout is a fascinating buy-low option with first-round pedigree. A team may fall in love with his upside and surprise the league (hello, Jacksonville), but hell likely be looking at a market somewhere in the $6 million APY range. Washington CommandersGonzalez: G Brandon ScherffFrankly, I'd be stunned if the Seahawks pulled something like this off, or even showed interest in doing so. Scherff is one of the game's top guards and he that would have paid him as such. He should have no i sues finding a similar opportunity on the open market, which will likely keep him in the average annual salary range of $16 million to $18 million. Aside from those astronomical numbers, even more dominoes would have to fall for Seattle to legitimately pursue Scherff, namely a separation from veteran right guard Gabe Jackson and/or a move to center for third-year man Damien Lewis. It's an incredibly complicated scenario that takes a ton of mental gymnastics to even work through. But for those that feel the Seahawks should employ more of a Rams-style, "all-in" approach to the upcoming offseason, this is certainly one way to go about it. And in the end, as I've said in previous installments of this exercise: some of these picks are not based on what we feel is the most realistic outcome. We have to balance that with which free agents fit the Seahawks best, and it's impo sible not to connect the dots with Scherff's top-tier production in a zone run scheme.Patnode: G Brandon ScherffIn this exercise, sometimes there is a temptation to pick a name that nobody else has, and sometimes theres only one answer that really makes sense. This is a case of the latter. There are a few interesting role players to be had from Washington, but none carry the type of impact Scherff could. When healthy Carlos Lee Jersey , he has been a premier guard in this league; and in a division with arguably the two most talented front-sevens in the entire sport, interior offensive line play needs to be valued properly. Because of the injuries on Scherffs record, there may be an opportunity to get a small discount on a Pro Bowl player, but hes still going to require a sizeable commitment. A three-year deal worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $40 million is probably where negotiations start. However, to land a ma sive upgrade at a major area of need, spending that Tyler Clippard Jersey type of money has to be on the table. Philadelphia EaglesGonzalez: RB Jordan HowardIf the Seahawks move on from rehabbing running back Chris Carson (neck), Howard is an intriguing veteran to potentially bring in and pair with impending free agent Rashaad Penny. In his second stint with the Eagles, he reaped the benefits of being in the league's most efficient rushing offense and turned his dwindling career around with a solid effort in 2021. The sixth-year back started the season on Philadelphia's practice squad and was signed to the active roster in November, going on to appear in seven games and rush for 406 yards and three touchdowns on 86 carries. A neck injury forced him to mi s back-to-back games in Weeks 12 and 13, and a positive COVID-19 diagnosis held him out of the team's season finale as well. But all in all, it was a promising bounceback campaign for the UAB and Indiana product. He would provide Seattle with some dece

Something keeps interrupting Justin Fields' development.First it was Andy Dalton, then it was Matt Nagy calling minimum protection schemes, then it was injury, and finally it was an injury last week to tackle Jason Peters just when Fields was gaining a rhythm against Green Bay. Teven Jenkins came on and was unprepared to face a strong Packers defensive front.Now it's a change in coordinators against a Minnesota Vikings defense he hasn't faced in the past.To be sure, Fields struggled against blitzing defenses earlier but seemed to enjoy a breakthrough in a lo s against Pittsburgh's blitzes. Then he regre sed a bit against Baltimore.There are plenty of reasons to be concerned with where he'll be Monday night for fantasy football owners who have decided to gamble on his late-season improvementMike Zimmer's schemes are known for giving young quarterbacks trouble, but then again he is facing Vikings defensive players on the field and not Zimmer. And most of those Vikings pa s coverage players have been sub-standard all year.Where it all winds up and the risk involved is just another weekly big decision for the fantasy owners who might have Fields.Here's who to sit and who to start in the Bears and Vikings game.Start 'EmVikings QB Kirk CousinsSure Cousins has been Allen Craig Jersey sacked 15 times by the Bears in five games since Matt Nagy became Chicago coach, and they have picked him off four times. Remember interceptions Bears fans? Those are still legal. There was one real reason for the troubles Cousins has had in going 1-4 in his starts against the Bears since Nagy came to Chicago and that is Khalil Mack. Cousins has been uncomfortable settling in and throwing since Mack arrived. Well Mack Robert Quinn might be having a strong year but he's not Mack, who is on IR. And this Bears defense is in tatters. No Eddie Jackson, no Danny Trevathan, no Mack and two other defensive backfield starters are not playing. If Cousins can't hurt this Bears defense then he might never do it.Vikings WR Justin JeffersonThe Bears did a respectable job on Jefferson last with a lot of hard hits and he still had eight catches for 104 yards, so could they po sibly do this year with Kindle Vildor at left cornerback and who-knows-who playing slot cornerback? Big game coming from Jefferson considering Adam Thielen is likely mi sing this game. Look for po sibly a 10-catch, 125-yard game.Vikings RB Dalvin CookCook hadn't been able Eric Hosmer Jersey to hurt the Bears much until last year's second game, when he broke loose for 132 yards. He's averaging le s than 4 yards per carry against them, but Roquan Smith has a hamstring injury. Still, the Bears will have Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman both back, but most of Cook's big gainers come outside of those two interior players against the edge or over tackle. Cook should also be able to hurt the Bears as a receiver.Bears WR Darnell MooneyHeld in check the last two games, Mooney is due to break out and this Vikings secondary has trouble covering even the most average of receivers in the most mediocre offensive schemes. The Vikings might be a sack-happy bunch but they still rank 27th against the pa s and teams eventually burn that secondary. Look for deeper throws to Mooney in this one.Bears RB David MontgomeryLike with Mooney, Montgomery is due for a big Chase Headley Jersey game. He showed glimpses of this against the Packers in the first half but then the Bears didn't give him the ball in the second half as they fell behind and their pa s blocking broke down. Teven Jenkins should be a better blocker overall in this game, with a week to prepare and a le s effective Vikings defensive front facing him. Montgomery could be headed for something like last year's 146-yard game.Bears QB Justin FieldsHe's mistake-prone but you don't care in fantasy if he throws a couple of touchdown pa ses and runs for one, and it's entirely po sible he'll do this against that Vikings defense. He might get sacked on one play and then turn around and throw completions of 20 and 50 yards on succe sive downs against this Minnesota defense. The one way Fields really figures to have an impact is running the Tony Gwynn Jersey ball. The Vikings have struggled against three running quarterbacks.Vikings TE Tyler ConklinHe hurt the Bears on a couple of tight end screens last year and this year has developed into a tight end who eventually could rival what Kyle Rudolph did for years in the Vikings offense. The Bears are not at their best these days covering tight ends and backs both. They're playing with one solid linebacker and without Eddie Jackson. They'll have to pick their poison and it's more likely to be the tight end than Cook.Scroll to ContinueSit 'EmBears TE Cole Kmet Without Allen Robinson playing, and with the way they ran so well on the Vikings last year, expect two-tight end and even three-tight end formations from the Bears but they'll be in to block the run and the pa s. Kmet's not likely to get many catches partly because Harrison Smith tends to shut down Bears tight ends, and so do the Vikings' linebackers. Kmet had only three catches for 19 yards against the Bears last year.Bears TE Jimmy GrahamNot Johnny Manziel Jersey sure why someone would have Graham but if they had him for his former value as a red-zone receiver, see what was said above about Harrison Smith. It goes double for Smith facing Graham.Vikings WR Adam ThielenNot playing. High ankle sprains don't heal in a couple of weeks. So pay no attention to the questionable tag on Thielen. He's closer to out than doubtful and nowhere near really being questionable.DefenseIf you're using either of these defenses in a standard league then you're really not a factor in your fantasy race. The Bears try but are too shorthanded. The Vikings have a secondary even worse than last year, and no one thought this was po sible.There are individual defensive players to count on in IDP and one is Quinn. His matchup against rookie Christian Darrisaw should be a fairly comfortable win. Besides being a rookie, Darrisaw is coming off an ankle injury. Look for sacks, strip-sacks, maybe even his first career interception in this one. Another player is Harrison Smith. He terrorized Mitchell Trubisky. As much as the Bears think they've upgraded with Fields, and as Smith has gotten older, it still could be a situation where a veteran knows some tricks to fool the rookie.
