If you own a Bank Account, chances are you have a Saving Account. This is the most common account that we use for parking our savings. It is what we access regularly. Based on your benefits, you can opt from a range of Savings Accounts. For instance, if you prefer to withdraw all the funds, opt for a Zero-Balance Account, or consider a Senior Citizens or Women Accounts if you want higher interest rates.
These days, you can do Savings Account opening online. So, how to do that? The digital world has made everything possible. From shopping to banking, everything gets done online. This has made it easier to do all the banking transactions. You can open the account in simple steps:
Research the banks
Online Banking is not such a new concept in India, and you find all offering it. Therefore, find the right bank. Prominent Indian banks that provide Saving Bank Account online are HDFC, Axis Bank, RBL Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and ICICI Bank. Research the interest rates offered on deposits and look for features such as minimum balance maintenance, account maintenance costs, etc.
Visit the bank websites
Check the chosen bank portal. Once you are on the website, follow the online account opening tab and fill in the details. This is an essential process, like how it happens online, i.e., you provide your name, address, contact details, PAN, and Aadhaar Card details.
Attach relevant documents
Having filled the form, upload the essential documents listed on the Savings Account opening online form. Along with the documents, complete the e-KYC formalities. Fill the e-KYC form and attach a self-attested copy of each, such as your PAN and Aadhaar card. Other documents are:
- Two scanned passport size photographs
- ID and age proofs: These include any government recognised documents that have your photo. Accepted documents include your PAN card, Aadhaar card, Passport, driving license, and voter’s card.
- Address proofs: The acceptable proofs are Aadhaar, Passport, driving license, ration card, utility bills, insurance papers, etc.
Remember, submit two PAN card and Aadhaar copies each if you decide to offer these as ID and address proofs. One of them is also for e-KYC.
Bank verification
Once the bank verifies your documents, you get your digital Saving Bank Account details on your e-mail. You can immediately start using them for your transactions.
