And yet another; aside from weather and Restaurants in Port Blair budgeting, the lack of tourists is refreshing. Yes, there are still plenty since I'm obviously not the only person brilliant enough to save money by traveling at different times, but it really does make a difference to be able to experience a city without droves of tourists too thick to walk through. Picture Piazza San Marco as the day dawns and the tide rolls in and the majority of people out are regular churchgoing Venetians or a few locals enjoying their morning shots of espresso or walk around the Piazza. Imagine being able to enjoy it like this and really take it all in without being trampled by a crowd on the move. Imagine disappearing down sidestreets and soaking it up in solitude, discovering your own treasures and having your own adventures, or being able to order a brioche in the morning or enter a museum without waiting in line for 10 straight minutes. This kind of freedom is often underrated but definitely desirable, and even the most seasoned travelers deserve their peace at times.

Bus routes and walking trails lead into its heartland with costal scenes that take your breath away. The perfect walking country with sweeping hills and wooded valleys, support a large and rich population of bird, animal and insect life. There are numerous archaeological sites of interest and a number of medieval churches.
