The gynandromorph Papilio Memnon butterfly
The gynandromorph Papilio Memnon butterfly fortuitouslyhatched in the puparium at this year's SensationalButterflies exhibition. It is one of just 200 gynandromorph collywobbles a allotment of the 4.5 actor butterfly specimens in themuseum. The appellation gynandromorph comes from the Greek"Gyn" to beggarly female, and "Andro" tomean male. The butterfly has audibly altered macho and femalemarkings -- darker colourings on the macho ancillary and paler colouring, with flecks of blue, red and tortoiseshell on the changeable side.
